I have a 61' Chrysler Windsor and can't figure out what engine it has. engine casting # is 2128854 which comes up as a 361. Engine pad below dist. has R38,diamond with a zero beside it and 6-20 below that. I'm confused. Any help would be appreciated.

If you look at The Casting Number on a Engine Block --- think of it as a "generic surname" such as Smyth - Jones - or Torres. The Stamped Numbers equals
the Birth Certificate Data of that Engine Block.

Thanks guys for the help! I thought it was a 383 but wasn't 100% sure. No one else seemed to know anything about them on other fourms. If I have any more questions I'll come back here. Love these old cars.

I found my #'s below the dist. on the flat spot on the engine block and casting # behind the starter. Then found the same # on the passenger side of the block.

It does on later blocks as well; the diamond is the scariest build code, makes the block real expensive to rebuild...either try to find .008" OS lifters or bush the lifter bores
