Location: Parts Unknown | For the hard to read bottom line: DODGE DIV 0629 13 935 BDY 858 PNT 099 TRM 835 099 is a corporate wide code for special order paint, but does not indicate color. ====================================================== (56 Dodge data tag.jpg) Attachments ---------------- 56 Dodge data tag.jpg (56KB - 175 downloads)

Exner Expert 19,174 posts. Neil passed away 18 Sep 2015. You will be missed, Neil! Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | OK....as you know, PNT code 099 has appeared on many uniquely painted cars, including the California Highway Patrol cruisers. The broadcsat Sheet and IBM card will merely confirm that code, but will not divulge what the car's OEM color(s) were. I forget the names of your rides colors, but, thank Exner (or fate...) they still exist on the car. Your 858: 1956 Dodge Custom Sierra 4-door wagon was built in Detroit o.o.a. 6/29/56; mid-latish year, which is good for the workers having figured out how to build the 56'ers (which are basically the same configuration as the 55's, so it/they should have been well built). The Dodge Story does not divulge how many Custom Sierra wagons were built (2 or 3 seaters)...or the Sierra or the Suburban models. Ditto for the WPC club's 1956 Dodge magazine (2/86), AND in the 1955-1958 'master' Parts book. The Detroit built V/8 Coronets, Royals and Custom Royals have VIN's beginning with 349xxxx.. As your car is a D500, its engine stamping number will not identify the BDY-series, as its stamping prefix will be D500-1xxx . The IBM card will confirm your car's (D500) engine stamping number. TRM code 835 is Custom Sierra in Black and white. You can bruise your brain agonizing over the 1956 (and, the 1961's) P.T plate and IBM card information. In 1956, there were multiple versions of the IBM cards, which were a carry-over design from the new-for-1955 IBM cards. I have relatively few 'Detroit' IBM cards, but do have ANOTHER D500 Custom Sierra wagon on file. It was painted in White roof with black all-over. Interestingly, it has a "2" in the 10th-spot; you have a "3" there, and it has a "5" in the next-to-last spot; you have a "1" there. The 3rd seat was optional, so, there would be no use in coding for the standard second-seat...so that 10th spot does not confirm the 3rd seat option. I've got a D500 4-door sedan with a "3" in the 10th spot, so, the 10th spot could include "Misc Eqp", which is a sexy option with several sub-items under its IBM code. As far as that "1" on your car, it could be the Basic accessory Group: heater, day/night mirror, directional signals(!!!???---"....A "must" for safe driving, and actually required by law in many states!"), and the left o.s. mirror. Unfortunately, that D500 sedan also has the Accessory Group 1, and Accessory Group 5, but its P/T plate only shows a "5" where your car has its "1", BUT: it does not have a "1" stamped anywhere on its P/T plate (just that '5', in your car's '1'-spot). So, all that 'we' can do is look at your car's IBM card and compare it to other IBM's, to try, by proces-of-elimination, to confirm your car's "3" and its "1". Until then, it shall remain: a Car of (some-) Mystery. Edited by d500neil 2014-05-02 4:00 PM
