Expert 5K+ Posts: 8445 Location: Perth Australia | Thats restorable Darren, just so long as its not bent. They break or melt (whatever) the plasic off and re cast it over the old frame. You will have to find out who has the mold for it though and be prepared to give an arm or leg away as payment. I must get back to making a mold for my plymouth and dodge wheels, very hard to make a working mold and if they are cast in clear (as both of mine are), bubbles in the casting can be an issue. Be carefull with those self cancelling tags as well, they break easy (you will need to remove the horn contact I think).

Extreme Veteran Posts: 524 Location: West Jordan | i was going to try the DIY from Eastwood, but i don't know, that one side at the base is ready to break away, what is left of it anyway. but then again $50 is all i am out if it does not work, then i can cut the big check for a new cast.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 7809 Location: Williams California | I agree with Mick, that wheel is too far gone for a long lasting repair, and will need to be re-cast. A repair job will work for a while, but if you use the car a lot, will not hold up. ---John

Extreme Veteran Posts: 524 Location: West Jordan | Thanks for the feedback, I am bookmarking each one. Just ordered the Eastwood kit, my plan is to epoxy a thin piece of something, probably plexi behind the really bad part at the base. Also looking at Gel Coat over the top, figure if I am going to drop up to $2500 I will at least see what I can do for a couple hundred. If it does not work I will start sending out emails to see if anyone has a mold.

Expert Posts: 1737 Location: Hay Lakes, Alberta, Canada | Doug Lepak is in Edmonton, close to me here, and he is doing my wheel now. Mine wasn't as bad as yours, but getting close. He says it won't be an issue to do it. The repaired wheels he showed me look fantastic!
