I never owned a Pacer, but a co-worker of mine did. He was working in the same VW dealership I was at as a partsman and he bought a new 1976 Pacer to replace his 1971 VW Beetle (Type 1) He only kept the Pacer for two or three weeks and then he took it back to the dealer he bought it from and bought back his Beetle. Don't remember what his objection to the car was, but he was glad to be driving a German car again.
