Hey,
Hoping someone can help me, i dont know how to remove the camshaft from the engine. The block is bare except for that so nothing should be holding it in. At one end was the timing chain cog and at the other end is some sort of cover plate type thing, with no obvious means of removal. Originally from a dodge phoenix a 68 i think.
also interested in getting the... forgotten the word. the thing that joins the lifters to the valves, getting that thing out.
i've given it a wiggle, a bang and asked politely but no luck.

Location: Perth Australia		The cam slides out from the front of the block

If memory serves, there is a retaining plate with 2 screws holding it in behind the cam gear (sprocket), then you might need to gently pry the shaft out

You said the block is stripped, so I assume you have the oil pump off and have removed the oil pump drive (has a gear that engages the cam at the rear of the engine)

Not sure what the other parts are your talking about, but if you mean the push rods (long skinny things), you need to undo the bolts that hold the rocker gear (arms) to the head and lift that off and then they just lift out, athough, they may hold into the lifter a bit by gunk

The lifters (cam followers) also just slide out towards the top of the engine, but can be a bit of a pain if the lifter bores have worn a little and left a lip at the top of their bores

The rear of the camshaft bore is sealed with a softplug. Once the sprocket is removed from the front of the cam you will find a retaining plate held on by four bolts....take note of the position of any additional parts under the bolt heads.

Lifters are often stuck in the block due to a buildup of varnish, use a screwdriver from the bottom side to push them up out of the bore then grasp with pliers.

Thanks for your help, i got it out.
As you both said the lifters were stuck in place and took some persuasion to move, once i did that it came out no problem. i didnt think they would get in the way.
