Expert Posts: 1348 Location: Valley Forge, Pa. | The shop manual makes it sound so simple to get at the clock in a 60 Plymouth and maybe it is? It says to remove the face plates for the push button heater controls and the push botton shifter and then remove clock. Makes it seem like I remove the 2 cover plates and the clock falls out. The center chrome plate just doesn't fall out with the clock attached. At this point, I am only removing the clock delete so I can install my clock but do I come up from under the dash or is it easier to get at with the speedo housing removed? I've removed the speedo housing enough times that it only takes a few minutes, I just don't remember if that gives me a clear shot at the clock? If I come up under the dash, why do I need to remove the face plates? You can't get at anything from the small openings behind the face plates. Is the dash harness pre-wired for a clock and lght? | ||

It says to remove the face plates for the push button heater controls and the push botton shifter and then remove clock. thats what the 60 PLYMOUTH shop manual says? what page? usually the 60 shop manual does not even cover such simple things. iirc removing the clock is very easy. just remove the wire and the 4 little philips head screws and you can pull it out from behing the dash. no need to remove any face plates,buttons,etc. not long ago i removed mine but i converted to radio controlled battery clock many years ago. but i don't think i changed anything, except the clockwork. I was just wonder if this panel is snapped in or ?. If it snapped in, then I might be easier but if it has nuts at all corners and the clock has 4 screws also, why remove the whole panel if I have to get under there anyway? I never know so I ask before I start something that might be easier or give me an idea. Is the harness pre-wired for a clock? | ||

Expert Posts: 1348 Location: Valley Forge, Pa. | Thanks for the pict. I started out by the book. I spent way too much time trying to remove the guage cluster. I was hoping to get it out to clena it up some. After a while I gave up and wormed my large hand up there with a phillips and removed the 4 screws. My only concern at that point was getting the clock into place without catching the dials on something. All went well but messing with the guage cluster and wiring ithe clock in, it took around 2 hrs total. I wired the clock before I put it in also. My clock was without a fuse and it is quartz now. | ||

Is the harness pre-wired for a clock? found it that must have slipped in from a previous year. that and the accompanying picture is not for a 60 plymouth! the pic shows the backside of a dash with the speedometer located below (?!) the clock. wonder what year is that from.
