Location: North Australia | I took a break once from the site. Worst 5 minutes of my life! Seriously, the best thing about this social media thing is you can just switch off. When you can or are ready, just tune in and catch up on the threads/forums that interest you. I almost exclusively am on the FL site, have been for over 10 years now. Thanks to the good Folk who maintain this shambles. Great site this, love the FL's! Steve.

Location: Parts Unknown | I made the mistake once of thinking car shows and parades were a valuable and rewarding part of the old car scene. It did not take long to figure out how phony and shallow that was. I feel much better now.

Expert Posts: 2312 Location: Arizona | phony and shallow for your purposes doesn't mean they aren't valuable and rewarding to others and/or for other reasons. Absent those shows and parades a lot of people would not be in the hobby and without them a lot of businesses that make parts available, new, used, etc, by everyone, even those not interested in the shows and parades, would go out of business.

Location: Indiana | I have several folks that keep pushing me to attend more car shows and I always just tell them, "I love classic cars, I love them so much that I'd rather have three or four $10k to $15k cars than just one $30k car, it's the $30k cars that car show folks want to see, they're not getting anything from me". But they just keep reminding me, "Not true! Just because the 'judges' aren't getting anything from your barn finds, that doesn't mean that nobody else is getting anything."

Location: North Australia | I have been to probably 7 car shows in the last year (here in the NT, Darwin region), and they have all been bloody good fun. You Good Ol' Boys must do it different up north. Last week I went to a show at Coomalie Creek Airfield. It was awesome. The property(on which there is a WW2 airfield) owner run a Victory in the Pacific commemoration. About 15 planes flew in (all sorts) and a cavalcade of about 60 Veteran cars and bikes drove from Adelaide (40 odd made it here) to the Coomalie airfield in the NT. That's nearly 2000 miles. What a day! I will post some pics if anyone is interested. Saw some rare and special pre-war (WW1) cars and bikes, and some nice planes too. Coomalie is a historic WW2 site, and that made it special too. Here is some info. (The japs sailed here after bombing Pearl Harbour and launched an attack on us.) http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&c... Anyway, we digress, now we are talking car shows etc, not the OP subject. Steve.

Location: Parts Unknown | I went to a swap meet recently. Dug some trenches and put in some sewer pipe too. Had a steak last night for dinner. Black olives on the salad. Didn't get a trophy though.
