I think you're right not many could have been sold but you never know one could appear at some swap meet or through the wonder of ebay. 1957 to '59 only....

Expert 5K+ Posts: 8445 Location: Perth Australia | They do mention the added security for when the kids ride in the back....................................Stops the little booger eaters escaping When I had my wagon, on hot days, I always drove with the tailgate open, but, at least the drivers window down as well

My Monaco had a warning etched into the door gate glass about driving with the window down , makes sense ...low pressure area would suck the exhaust gas up... would no doubt leave you exhausted Edited by grunau 2014-11-28 8:15 PM

That's why a properly made exhaustsystem on a wagon has the end pipes angled to the sides of the car. I always drive my '62 wagon with (all) the 5 windows open and hardly ever get any fumes inside while driving. There's an occassional whif of exhaust when coming up to a traffic light but that's about it.

Expert Posts: 1348 Location: Valley Forge, Pa. | Half of the kids from the 50s and 60s, grew up in the back seat of station wagons. No one had AC so we always road around with the window down. Guess that explains a lot and I just though my parents wanted us back there to keep us 10" away from them? I have one, I bought it years ago right after I bought my Suburban. I think I found it at a flea market? He said it was NOS for 1963-65 or was it 1962-65 MOPARs. I didn't know the rear glass is a different size then my 1960. So now it just sets in my closet collecting dust. I like to tow my boat some wheres and sleep in the back and the screen is a great idea but my car is a 2 seater and doesn't have the rear interior switch so I would have to put a switch in or climb in and out the middle door. The screen fits up in the window track then you bring the window up to it to hold it in place and that prevents anyone form opening the tailgate once the glass partially up. It is heavy duty and you can' simply cut it open with a pocket knife. Its actually fairly secure. You are right, these are rare and I would love to have one that fit my car. I drive around with the window down all summer, it would be nice to feel a little more secure. Sorry for the blurry picture. Trying to hold it a distance out is a pain.
