Location: Jamaica Plain, MA | Hi there,
It came up earlier about swapping in a ConstantControl box into a 325 equipped car from 58. I'm wondering if a B block CC steering pump can be modified to fit on a 325 without a huge hassle. I have a few laying around. I'm running the old Vickers style pump (1957) from a Coaxial Steering setup on my 57 DeSoto with a 1960 ConstantControl box. The fluid output is the same and it works like a dream. At least it did. The problem-- my old pump is leaking like a sieve and I want to stop gap repair since I don't want to deal with repairing the Vickers pump right now. Or, does anyone have a 325 Poly power steering pump lying around that want to part with? I figure they must have used the Vickers type into the final run of 325 engines, since they are compatible with the Constant Control box.
Thanks,
Jon |

Location: Melbourne, Australia | Jon, from memory the co-axial pump has only one large readily available $2 o ring if you choose to clean and refurbish it. The tin cover comes off and you have access to it. Good bench job ! I used the loctite master gasket in 2007 and not leaking to this day ! Colin |

Location: Jamaica Plain, MA | Thanks Colin. It's spewing from the shaft seal behind the pulley. I believe that's a press-fit part, and I don't have a press. I guess you'd call it a bearing-rod bearing/seal. Are you talking about the lid seal?
Best,
