I have a 1957 Dodge Sierra that I'm currently repairing some butchered up wiring going to the key switch. The car is a radio delete and the wiring diagram I have doesn't show a radio. I was wondering where the radio picks up it's power from if it comes from the factory with a radio and if anybody would know the color of the wire. I know I can pick up power from several places but I figure If I'm wedged under the dash I might as well connect the way the factory did.
Thanks.

It will be a single black (why they used black is beyond me) wire, but wont be there if its a radio delete

These cars had nothing but the basics pre wired, so if it didnt have that accessory or another thing (eg, reverse lights), there wasnt any provision put in for it

My car is a 60 dodge with a plymouth dash, so a bit different to yours, but, near the fuel or temp gauge, you might find a juntion connection that has 6 spade terminals on it, if it has this, it is the accessories connection point (and no, you wont find a fuse box, so dont forget to put a fuse in)

So, in a nutshell, you just have to string a wire in and if your putting a modern radio in (with a memory), then your really going to have to put every wire in

Pick up power from the power gang on the back of either the fuel gauge or temp gauge. Use an in-line fuse in the wire to the radio.

Thanks for the responses. I did see some open terminals on the back of the temp. gauge but didn't know why so that will be what I use.
