| Hello
I am looking to put power steering on my 1958 Plymouth (plaza series). I recently put an aftermarket power brake system on the car so I have all of the hardware, brackets and hoses, I just need a gearbox. The car currently has a manual steering gearbox installed. Does anyone know of a website or classic restoration shop that carries PS gearboxes for this year/model car? I was told 58 through 60 Fury gearboxes would fit/work but before I jump and make such a purchase I need to chat with an expert who knows for sure what year, make, model PS gearbox would fit. Appreciate any help or leads...

Just a thought

Location: Valley Forge, Pa. | According to my AUTO INTERCHANGE SYSTEM book[very handy by the way], your 1958 Plymouth should interchange with Chrysler - late 58, 1959, 1960 Winsor & Sanatoga & New Yoker WO Ram Air, 1961[except 300G], 1962-64 all. DeSoto - 1958-61. Dodge - 1958-61, 1962-64 880 ser. Imperial - late 1958. Plymouth - late 1957, 1958-61.
Hope that helps some? |

Location: Ontario, Canada | 58 was first year for constant control power steering and the factory had lots of problems with them. I had problems with them pressure locking to the point you couldn't turn the steering wheel with the engine running!! Yeah, scary to say the least!
I would go with the 59 in a heartbeat!
