Location: Melbourne, Australia | Hi Guys , I was just wondering on my 58 Desoto Firedome I would like to delete the brake booster (as its no good ) and vacuum tank . As I have heard your brakes will still work ok and the pedal wont be too bad with out them .
If I do this will I just weld up the hole where the booster went through, or get the correct plain bracket
And also why are the NON power brake master cyls different ? As I see they have a long rod sticking out the back of them . Would I need one of these instead ? Hope its not all too confusing ?
Any advice would be much appreciated .

Any advice would be much appreciated . cheers James Bad idea, for many reasons. The car will be much harder to stop. Do you really want to crash into the modern car in front of you that suddenly applies his brakes ? You will need to get a manual brake pedal assembly, backing plate, master cylinder and plug for the vacuum port. There's nothing to weld up, BTW. I believe the m/c bore is smaller on a manual brake car. Better idea would be to have your p/b booster repaired. What seems to be the problem ? Ron |

Only if you're King Kong. The power brake pedal ratio is 4-1 which is fine with power boosting the pedal but without boost the ratio is too low. Manual brake FL cars have a 8-1 pedal ratio. |
