Expert Posts: 1348 Location: Valley Forge, Pa. | Looking though a 1957 MOPAR parts book that I found at a yard sale and I see a long list of parts for gas heaters. I didn't know they used them. The book is from CRYCO of Canada. I had a couple VW THINGs with gas heaters. Turned on the switch, heard a tick, tick, tick. Then it would start to roar like a jet and then my right sneaker would start to melt. It actually melted my sneaker. Unfortunately, the THING had NO insulation so the rest of the car froze. The one thing that I didn't like was that the heater sat directly on top of the fuel tank. (Picture 696.jpg) Attachments ---------------- Picture 696.jpg (123KB - 174 downloads)

I'm not 'thinking' anything---read the posts; I'm asking for information on the years that the gas fired heaters may have been optionally available on the FWDLK'ers.

Elite Veteran Posts: 943 | I know this is rather an old thread, but I know that '57 Imperials had gas heaters as mine has one. There's a section of the shop manual devoted to them also. Don't know other years, this is the only one I've seen. Anyone else have one of these in their car? They seem to be very rare. Garrett

Expert Posts: 1737 Location: Hay Lakes, Alberta, Canada | Both my 1957 Chrysler/Plymouth and Dodge/DeSoto Salesman's Data Books lists the gas heater as an option, and the 57 parts book lists it. The parts book lists it as "Gas Heater-Model 801"
