Does anybody have a source for the sets of small rivets to reassemble the wing window assemblies on '57-9 hardtops or convertibles? I had to take mine apart for the plater to refinish mine.

Thanks in advance for any assistance on this.

I got mine in s/s from Jay-Cee Sales (www.rivetsinstock.com) 5/32 dia and in lengths of 7/32, 9/32, 3/8 and 7/16. You have to get a minimum of 100 each, so I have a lot of spares. If you want I'll send you enough to do your car. I am installing mine right now and struggling with the best way to peen them. I made a couple of pointed punches, but the result is sloppy. Good thing that side will never show. But the ones right near the "V" of the frame are impossible to get a punch on. I will be experimenting today with alternative methods. If you have any thoughts on that I'm interested.

By the way do you have any complete jack assemblies in good shape for my '57 Dodge? I need everything - base, jack, lug wrench, even the spare hold-down stuff.

I am working on the wing windows on my four door right now, and I got a rivet setting tool, through the local nut n Bolt shop. It does a much nicer job than a punch.

The trick is to use the precise length of rivet. The next problem is that you can't hit/set a tool at right angles to some of the rivets so a centre punch is about the only way for those. The correct length of rivet using a punch will result in a tight fit.

Here you go John

I assumed John was talking about the 5/32" rivets of various lengths that are all around the vent window frame, to hold in the metal retainer strips for the rubber vent window seal. The same size also hold the door window fuzzy channel into the vertical s/s divider bar and attach the divider to the cast vent window frame. The countersunk ones on ebay would appear to only fit the pivot pin, one needed per door. Also, I believe a single 1/8" rivet is needed for the little seal that goes at the top of the divider post where the cast frame extends out over it. Those I don't have yet but will be getting soon.

Can you post a link to a supplier or a photo? I was unable to find such a tool that would work inside of the very narrow channel of the vent window frame. Thanks.

Here is a picture of a similar tool. I bought mine from Spaenaur, through my local nut n bolt shop.

Thanks. On the convert wing window frames the tool must fit down into a 5/16" channel. I'll see if they have one that small. But several of the rivets are located where you cannot get a straight shot at them with a punch or such tool.

John - just mailed you an assortment of s/s rivets - hope they are what you need. When doing mine I discovered that the little tab at the bottom of the cast frame that rivets to the s/s divider was broken off on both sides. I fixed it by replacing the tab and the short one-hole spacer above it with a fabricated steel piece. Worked great.

Here are the rivet sizes and suggested instructions from my kits many years ago. I don't have any kits for sale now.
