Location: Under the X in Texas | I'm looking for a Wix part number good for the filter element used in the '58-59 and '62 dual quad "football" shaped air cleaners. Surely there is one.

Veteran Posts: 119 | On the oval filter elements, you get a round one and smash it into an oval. Go to the local parts store, open boxes, match to your housings. (This actually works well, I ran my 56 Fury 2x4 this way.) Edited by hoodinki 2015-03-12 6:04 AM

Expert Posts: 1728 Location: Fleetwood, Pa | I figured since these were on just about every car produced in 58 thru 61 that they would be rather plentiful...... Edited by sidesho_bob1961 2015-03-12 6:39 AM

For the air filter elements: Gary Goers makes them, $44 pair. Atlas Obsolete has them, $100 pair. Alternatively, you can use Purolator A30059 and form them to oval shape. Edited by Andy1974 2015-03-14 9:26 AM

Location: Under the X in Texas | Went to Advanced AP and bought the one A30059 they had in stock, ordered another for tomorrow a.m. $15 for a pair. These elements are one half inch LESS tall than all the original elements and their interchanges. A half inch around a 28 inch diameter means a pair of this part number air filter is going to allow much less volume of air intake. Twenty eight square inches of less air. That isn't good for a dual quad Hemi. That comparison is just for the '58-59 and '62 dual quad cars. The '57 dual quad air filters were a full inch TALLER than the '58-59, 62 air cleaners so compared to the first year there is Fifty Six square inches LESS of air volume available. Okay, you'd be right I'm not going drag racing or doing the Texas Mile for top end, nevertheless these Purolator elements are not a air volume match to what Chrysler engineers felt was needed for daily street use when the cars were new. Has anyone purchased Goers reproduction elements? What is their height?

Regular Posts: 90 Location: Germany | You´re right. The Purolator is less tall. That´s why I ordered Gary´s, which definitely have the right height of 2 1/4"
