In need of all brake hoses for my 1957 Belvedere sedan with a 301 and TF. Saw ads on E-bay for a three hose kit from Argentina. Anyone have any experience with these hoses? Some Argy stuff is fine, others not so much. Comments? Also do I just need three hoses (left, right, back)? I see that I need 2 front cylinders per wheel.

TIA

You only have 3 flex hoses on your car, everything else is steel tubing.

They don't do quality that good anymore, that's for sure. Aint nothing so good as finding old parts that have been protected for heat and sun through the years.

I wouldn't risk my car on questionable brake hoses. Get name brand (EIS, Raybestos, etc), modern hoses. Also, I'm not a fan of old brake hoses, since they deteriorate with age.

Are we sure that the "brand" ones isn't produced in India or China Ron? Because if we're not sure of that our crusial parts are produced with our safety as priority and a good profit on that, it's crap, whatever the brand name is. You know better than me that we get a "surprice" when you get your order home; made in Taiwan, China, Inda, Mexico, Rumania etc. Not that I distrust those contries, not at all, they're all capable, willing and able to produce good parts - but with a true price that don't allows so much profit for the guys that demanded production in low cost contries.

I rather trust a Moog Product of 50 years of age (stored in good conditions) than ANY new produced spare parts. Toyota just recalled 200000 cars (etc, etc)due to quality issues - ring a bell?

Wizard -

We seem to have this belief that just because the part is produced overseas (China, India, Singapore, wherever), that it is automatically crap. However, big name brands have quality control engineers that check the manufacturing process to ensure that they aren't building inferior parts. Some are even on-site to verify this. Now, that's not to say that crap will slip thru every so often. Also, there is a lot of off-brand junk coming out of these countries that's being sold on fee-bay or in Dollar Stores. But when it comes to old brake hoses, I'll pass on those in favor of new stuff.

I'll tell you a story from real life Ron. Jonsered, a Swedish producer of chainsaws was trying to move their production of spare parts to China. For the quoted price the spare parts was kind of ok for the normal consumer market, but too low quality for the professional market. Morale; Jonsered produces consumer parts in China, but the higher quality parts for professional use was proven almost as expensive as in Sweden - hence, professional spare parts are still produced in Sweden.

I'm totally convinced that China can produce just as good quality as any country in the World, but the price will accordingly be higher and leave less profit for the greedy.

I just don't trust any brand that moves the production because the wants to cut the costs in general. If they're talking about synergy effects and transport COSTs, that's a different story.

That said, a turd is a turd, even if it's painted white and even if it's produced in Sweden

I have used the Argentine source for brake hose probably 8 times in the last 15 years. They are beautifully made in all respects. They are certainly superior to those sold by Kanter and others. They are stamped with Argentina DOT ratings. They are a bargain. I don't have every vehicle I put them on any more but have them on three cars right now and will order from the same source again next time I need hoses and have recommended this seller many times !!!! RECOMMEND !!!!!!!

Wiz is right, Craftsman is doing all the sockets set and pretty much every tool in CHINA and the bad quality es showing.. Electronics is pretty much all done in CHINA, but they are good...
I'm from Argentina, they are good stuff there, others not that good, but still far superior to the Chinese crap, some products are internationally renowned like BBB valves. I also remember the temp gauge form 35-39 For* were made there and exported to the US for decades.

What brand are theses flex hoses?

I think we're all making the same point: Crap can be produced locally or in China. Also, quality parts can be made overseas or locally. My concern is people saying all Chinese-made parts are crap while all USA or Swedish parts are good. Just not true.

I trust Wayne's judgement, so I'm more likely to try the Argentine Brake Hoses if I can't find locally. Advantage to buying locally is that if there's a problem, easy to exchange.

Got my brake hoses from Argentina the other day. They look to be good quality. I will let the group know when I get them on.

Thanks
