This is a frame off resto and it made it´s maiden voyage to Powermeet Nossebro, sweden 4th of june 2011. every nut and bolt has bin treated to a standard which is identical to "NEW". Location: Parts Unknown | Hey Morgan, Is the roof/ sweep on that car light blue or white ? The body color looks too grey to be Haze Blue Metallic like my car, but there was no other close OEM color. Is this car OEM colors or are the pix a little tweaked in color ? Haze Blue Metallic was a Spring Special color and should look much like the 60 DeSoto up top of this page, although it is one of those colors that looks different in different light. Great car. Location: Parts Unknown | Yeah, ... that shows the blue a little better. With a name like "Haze Blue Metallic", it is easy enough to understand that it would grey-out .... hence the "Haze" part. And mine does that too. On the lower cowl, under the fender area where it never was exposed to light or weather, it is really quite bright. Anyway, thanks for posting these pictures, guys. I always enjoy seeing another 58 DeSoto. Did you happen to note the build date on the data tag ? This car wears the Spring Special bars and Haze Blue Metallic is a Spring Special color. My car was built Jan. 6th, I think (?). | ||

Expert Posts: 1295 Location: Nasco , SWEDEN | The 1956 DeSoto Adventurer took its name from two concept cars built by Ghia for DeSoto. The first Adventurer was designed by Virgil Exner in 1952 and powered by DeSotos 276 cubic inch hemi-head V-8. After it completed its time on the show circuit Exner adopted it as his personal car for several years, even racing it on occasion. It was followed by a second Adventurer in 1954 designed by Luigi Segre and Giovanni Savonuzzi at Ghia, creating sufficient stir on show that DeSoto adopted its name for the high performance hardtop it brought to market in early 1956. It was offered only as a hardtop or convertible with dual four-barrel carburetor high performance engine. This 1959 DeSoto Adventurer two-door hardtop is a good, largely original car that has had only one older repaint and is otherwise as delivered in the Adventurers characteristic white exterior with gold anodized side trim and grille and matching gold vinyl and white cloth interior. A wonderful survivor, it has the standard dual quad induction, TorqueFlite automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, period aftermarket air condition, swivel seats, Mirror-Matic rear view mirror, power windows, seat belts, rear seat speaker, wheel covers, wide whitewall bias ply tires, dual rear antennas and an automatic headlight dimmer. The dash top and package shelf coverings have wrinkled from exposure to the sun but otherwise the interior is very well preserved. The paint and chrome are sound and presentable and the engine compartment has been detailed to very good standards. Loaded with options, this is a pretty, highly original car that will be admired as a particularly rare example of one of Americas great limited production high performance cars, one of just 590 built in 1959 and probably the only one to survive in such wonderful original condition. Expert Posts: 2312 Location: Arizona | Interesting that in 55, even with the v-8 they were sending them out the door with 3.90 rear axle ratios. I guess since it was before the interstates started getting built no one ever drove much over 55 unless they had a trunk full of moonshine. | ||
