Does anybody have 235/75r-14 tires on their FL car? I still am reluctant to get bias ply tires for my 58 Firesweep. The only way to get close to the original diameter tire is to get 235/75r-14 tires but I have reason to believe there might be an interference because of the width. It would be extremely helpful if anyone here is actually running them on their FL car. If so, could you please reply to let me know what year, make and model and if there is any interference, especially up front when turning to the extreme left/right.

Thanks, Bob

I have them on my '57 Windsor 4 door sedan, and I don't have any clearance issues. I can't say anything about the smaller frame cars, though...

Even the smaller frame Firesweep has the same clearances under the wheel wells as the large frame models. Therefore, clearance should not be an issue.

Before I removed my 225/75r14's...I turned front wheels to the extremes...Right hand turn was fine. No interferences whatsoever...but the front left tire on a hard left hand turn came dangerously close to one of the steering box bolt heads on the frame. I'm thinking it was about 1/4" away from rubbing. Perhaps a front end alignment would clear this up? I notice the steering wheel is out of whack when I'm traveling straight down the highway. Thanks for your input guys...they help in my decision making.

I've got pics that i COULD post, if I could, presently, post pics to the website.

Years ago, replaced the OEM Lockheed Centerplane brakes with the mid 60's(+) 11x3" Bendix "Duo Servo" brakes.

In order to install the Bendix brakes, I had to cut off the tip of the front strut-rod extensions (which served as steering-stops), which
extend past the ends of the strut rods by about 2".

By the necessary cutting off of the ends of the strut rods, the front wheels' turning diameter is greatly lessened, but, the inner edges of the front tires can, now, rub-up against the inner wheel housings during a VERY tight, slow, parking maneuvers.

You just need to ensure that you replace the OEM brake hoses with slightly longer aftermarket hoses, so that the 'new' hoses
will not kink-up or contact/bind against the shorter, (former-OEM) , brake hoses.

So, during slow maneuvering operations, you just need to keep your hands on the steering wheel, to prevent any
un-wanted, prolonged contact between the steering stops and the frame rails.
