Hey all!
Anyone know what the "typical" axle gear ratio is that came in a 57 Plymouth
Belvedere 2dr HT with a 301 2bbl? I know about the id tags, but I don't have
my car home yet, and it's going to be a while before I can check it for myself.
I searched the posts but found nothing on this. I realize that sure-grips and
ratios were optional; I'm just curious what was "typical"..... so I kinda got an
idea what to maybe expect.
Thanks guys!! |

Oh, and I forgot to mention the car came with a factory torqueflite. |

Well, I just found my answer..... was digging through some car stuff and found a 57 Plymouth Service Manual I haven't seen (or used) in over 20 years!! Thought it was long gone, but anyway, page 22 shows the P-31 (Savoy
and Belvedere), with the torqueflite -- came standard with a 3.36:1
Just goes to show it pays sometimes to be a packrat!
And so, I'm going to take the advise of many, and sit down and "read a good book", my newly re-found old treasure...
....big fat cigar in one hand, ice cold Schlitz in the other, and I'm in Forward Look Heaven!! |

I find that there are all these wonderful accessories in there that are not present on the car and they become an obsession (expencive one) to locate, restore and fit to the car, especially the shiny ones
Enjoy

Oooops, I didn't think of that!! 'Course, I've had to drastically reduce my
allowable budget on the car since a major career change took place back in
May, so I'll have to make due with what I have to work with.
But it's still neat to dream of some of those goodies!! |
