Location: D-70199 Heslach | Is there anybody who know about shock absorbers for a 57/58 big body wagon.
The parts catalogue said:
front 17-23-6 #1850448 - 1" diameter, heavy duty
rear 17-23-3 #1879306 - 1" diameter, Sub.
do anybody have an idea how I can get such shocks, or similar part numbers of today's manufacturers.
Alternatively, would the dimensions of interest, ie the shortest length and stroke |

Location: Detroit MI area | I checked into this several years ago. I carefully filed away the info for my 57 Dodge wagon... and can't find it.
The front shocks are standard stuff. The rear wagon shocks are different. The best I can remember is that some shocks claim to fit but their travel is an inch or so less than the possible suspension travel. The chances of full travel? Slim, but not good with short shocks.
I will keep looking.

Location: Netherlands | If you just put the partnumbers in Google, a few sites and a couple of vendors show up.
Try it...

Location: D-70199 Heslach | I found shocks for my application. I measured the compressed and decompressed situation.
The solution is a Bilstein 24-184854 (632 mm - 397 mm) with modified eye bushings (Bilstein E4-B46-450).
