While I was under the Imp I grabbed a hold of the drive shaft and felt it wobble. The U-Joint on the axle is badly worn and had 1/2'' of play. terrible. I've replaced them before, but my question is, are the 3 U-joints on the drive shaft (prop type) all the same size? The local parts stores list it in stock but it says "rear shaft"

Ill add some pictures, it pulverized the needle bearings inside into black mush

On my 60 Coupe, they were all the same. Have a good look at the centre bearing support while you have it out. Most drive shaft shops advocate a re-balance of the shaft when replacing uni joints, but may not be neccesary. If you didnt feel the collapsed uni joint you wont feel a shaft slightly out of balance!

Isnt that the truth! I replaced just the one on the axle for now. the others have a little bit of wiggle, but very little compared to the 1/2 of play the rear one did.
