Location: Bainbridge Island, WA | I am looking for the correct oil dipstick for my 1955 Dodge Cusom Royal Lancer Coupe with: a 290ci V8 Super Red Ram Hemi.
When the engine was rebuilt during restoration, a temporary (and wrong) dipstick was used but it does not fit well or drop down far enough into the tube to get a proper read on the oil level. Sticks up about 2” too high above the tube’s opening - so the collar and handle are not snug into the tube.
Anyone know where I can find, the correct dipstick for this 270 v8 engine, either NOS, used, or reproduction? Have only begun my search for it.

Location: Buena Park, CA | Hello Richard. My guess is you actually have a 270 Super Red Ram Hemi as opposed to the 290 you are listing. I can't find a part number for the dip stick/oil level indicator in the parts book, but you can get away with using a dipstick out of any 1955 Dodge (other than the flat 6), a 1956 270 Dodge, or the 1955-56 Plymouth 241 or 260. And thanks for the info; I will look into it. Trying to locate a part number, and was hoping another year make or model's dipstick would work. |
