Wanting to install a 1962 318 poly into my 1955 Plymouth V8 car, is there a conversion/adapter kit available (could not find anything on TD Perf or Schumacher), or do I need to make my own? New to this, so hope I am doing this right. Thanks

You won't find an adaptor to mate a post '61 engine to the earlier pre '62 tranny, especially if it's an A/T, they're just not that good. I'd use a 904 on it, assuming A/T again.

besides the different bell pattern (assuming the '55 was V8) but the 55 is an 8 hole crank & the '962 would be a 6 hole crank. Is the '55 engine gone/busted?

OOPS, forgot to say we are installing an A833 tranny, not using the stock engine or transmission. Purchased car(s) without engine or transmission. Thanks for any information. Dave

Linda did the post for me, and she/we did not make ourselves very clear. Car is a 55 Belvedere hardtop, original V8 car. We are using a 1962 318 poly and a 1964 A833 4 speed with a small block bellhousing. We were hoping to find some type of after market front engine mounts, or ? that will mount the 62 poly to the 55 chassis. We can easily make the rear transmission mount, but would like to buy something that would work, rather than trying to fabricate. We heard there is a manufacturer out there that makes an after market installation kit for our application. We have several 1963 max wedge cars and a 1962 max wedge car, first time in years (early 60's) that I have done any work on a 55 (the car we first dated in). Trying to recreate the car we had back in the day. Thanks for any information you are willing to share. Dave Poston (and Linda)

I couldn't find a kit either, and the rebuilt OEM mounts were terribly expensive, so here's the way I did it on my '56 using modern, inexpensive spool mounts and a '66 Poly.

Unfortunately, it isn't easy. The only easy route would be to put a dodge hemi motor in there instead. The spool mounts that Gary showed are great solution. In late '56, the Plymouth came with the poly motor from the factory and this is how they did it. They welded these tabs on the frame to hold the motor mounts. The nice thing about doing it this way is that it is more adjustable if you initially get it in the wrong spot, you can adjust the height of the mount and position on the tabs. But these brackets are probably not very easy to fab up.

Thanks for all the helpful ideas, looks like I will need to do the fabrication.
