I cant see the pictures very well, but double check your body code, could it be 836? 836 is the code for a 2 Door Hard-Top Custom Royal Lancer, which is what a La Femme is based off of. Paint and trim codes appear to be unique to the La Femme. I highly recommend that you order your cars IBM Card from Chrysler Historical. It will give you a lot more information, and you can confirm if you still have your original motor, what option groups you have, etc. I have mine for my 56 Dodge and can cross compare options with you. Regular Posts: 68 Location: Mitchell Nebraska | David, thank you for the decode. The body number is 836 and it is a 2dr hardtop custom royal lancer.I would love to get the IBM card but the car has been setting for over thirty years and I need to get a title .The person I bought it from bought it out of a salvage yard years ago and he didn't get a title. From what I have read the Chrysler Historical Society requires a title or current registration.Any suggestions?

Elite Veteran Posts: 792 Location: Buena Park, CA | Sorry, from what I recall, you are absolutely correct as far as needing a title to confirm ownership. I would just try to get your car into the system asap. Don't know how tough it is in Nebraska though. Did any of the accessories survive along with the car?

Regular Posts: 68 Location: Mitchell Nebraska | it still has the storage boxes that were on the backs of the seats, not very good shape but enough for patterns, although the raincoat and other accessories arnt there. It is a p/s,p/b and power seat car,all of which are still there.Nice thing is it needs restored ut is 100 percent all there and has not been messed with.Wish it had a hemi but that's ou it will be fine without it.Not sure how involved it is to get a Nebr title, used to be they issued a "builders"title but will be finding out.

Elite Veteran Posts: 792 Location: Buena Park, CA | Very nice! If you need some reference pictures during your restoration let me know. My 56 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer is a very original Power Brake/Power Seat/Power Windows (no power steering) car. And don't worry about not having the D-500 Hemi option on your La Femme, it is a cool enough car as it is. Don't know if you are on Facebook, but there is a very good group over there with at least 2 55 La Femme owners, and 1 person who just started a restoration on a 56 La Femme. Regular Posts: 68 Location: Mitchell Nebraska | Thanks I am sure I will have a lot of questions and appreciate the offer.I will check Facebook for the other Lafemme owners.i am very excited to get started on this car.I also got a very rust free 56 2dr hardtop Coronet in the deal.It has an almost perfect body and absolutely no rust.Am thinking of using that body and transferring all the Lafemme parts to that body.My car has a lot of rust in the floor boards, rear 1/4s and trunk floor.Other car is perfect in all these areas.Cant see cutting all the repair panels out of a perfect car just to repair the other car.Why not just use the good body.Still plan on using the front clip, frame and drive train out of the original car, only going to use the body shell.post some pics of your 56,would love to see it.

Elite Veteran Posts: 792 Location: Buena Park, CA | Here is a link to a video of my car (way easier than posting pics to this site). Someone else shot it, but it will give you an idea. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjenvWz1RDs You may be better off just replacing the floors, 1/4's, and trunk floor. 2-Door HT Cornets are rare birds themselves, so you may be able to get some cash to help with the metal work you need without tainting what you have or committing any felony's. A lot of states as well as the feds are really cracking down on vin and body tag issues and just the removal of a vin tag now days can get you into some serious do-do. And it could potentially kill the value of your very rare car . . . .
