Location: Park Hills, KY | Since seeing BadMike's post, I wanted to see if anyone here had tackled the rebuild of the steering box. I too am looking for a solution to a VERY leaky steering box. I have been told, "just keep putting fluid in it....its too hard to rebuild".
Can anyone shed any light on actually how difficult this is?
Thanks, |

Location: Chestertown, NY ( near Lake George) | Where is the leak, most common area is the pitman arm seals, this can be done without an overhaul. |

Location: So. Cal | For things like this I prefer working with a local rebuilder. That way you don't have to deal with the expensive shipping to and from. Just look in your local yellow pages or digital version and you should be able to find multiple rebuilders around. I used a couple of shops in the Los Angeles area. I believe that Napa will also take your old box and rebuild it for you (by sending it to their own rebuilders). |
