The brakes on my '57 Dodge - drums turned and new custom arced shoes by JC Auto - work great, but squeak loudly in reverse. I pulled the drums back off and scuffed the shoes with 60 grit paper, plus made sure the ends of the shoes are beveled which they were. That helped, but it is still noisy. They have about 1,000 miles on them. Any suggestions, or do I just need to break them in more?

That would require removing all 4 drums again - not going to happen unless it gets worse. Springs are all new and correctly installed.

If you're not pulling the drums, then I guess you will have to wait and see if the problem clearences itself? Or the old Vaudville line "just don't back up".

You said the drums are cut, so I'm guessing they were cleaned really well as dust can cause squeaking and you are sure all is in the correct place and nothing could have come loose and the drum itself can't be rubbing on anything, so you will just have to drive it and see what happens.
