Will a 57 Plymouth back up switch work on a 58 Plymouth powerflite? Or is there a difference?

Hi
The trans mounted pressure switch type is the same for '57-'58 P/N 1603328 as per parts book. My '58 with Powerflite has the backup lamp switch mounted on the Button box.

That's what I was asking about, I bought a push button unit but I didn't have a back up switch on it and I seen a 57 switch on ebay and was wondering if it was the same as the 58 because the part numbers were different.

Hi
I misunderstood when you said "on" a '58 PLymouth Powerflite I thought you were talking about the the pressure switch style of backup light switch that works off the Reverse apply servo. As far as the switch on the Button box....I've never had to install a switch seperately. For a switch installation to work the button box has to have the switch actuating tang coming out the side where the switch would mount.(That part is riveted to the Reverse slide). I've interchanged complete '57 to '58 button boxes and I've never noticed a difference save for the type of connector on the wires coming from the switch and that was taken care of with a quick solder job. Perhaps that's why they are a different part number it could be that simple.
