Location: Ponder, TX | Anyone have a part number and/or source for the seals on the stud molding fasteners on the windshield and rear window of ’56 Plymouths?
I’ve searched for seals that would work with universal clips, but haven’t found the right sizes that are available in small quantities, and I'm not sure about which material to use.

Location: Hayward, Calif | I've never seen those seals your talking about, but sounds like a good idea. I use that black tar seal stuff. It's kinda soft and sticky. They are about 1/4" in diameter and about a foot long. I tear off a small piece, wrap it around the stud, put a flat washer on and tighten up the nut. The flat washer will squeeze that sealant into the hole and all around the stud. You can buy this stuff at an auto paint store. Napa may have it. Jerry |

Location: Under the X in Texas | I use silicone plumbing caulk in a tube. Have also used 3M Body Caulk and in a pinch weatherstrip cement. There was never a part number for the seal stuff - it was on the fastener from the manufacturer ready for installation.

Location: Ponder, TX | I sort of mis-wrote what I meant to say. I know the OEM method was a wad of something like a seam sealer, but made the assumption that someone would have found a modern option that wasn't such a mess to install.
I just talked to a seal-washer manufacturer and they suggested a product, so I'll work on getting a few from their distribtor to try out and then let everyone know if it works. |

Location: Perth Australia | A non messy way is to use a stuff called "tacky tape"
I use it in car aircon work, but its also used in the building industry
Its basically a tar tape that you can mold (like Plasticine)
You would be buying much more than you could ever use, but its very cheap from your local building supplies (big assumption on availability )
