Member Posts: 15 Location: Batavia | I saw in another thread some discussion of Butch's front drop kit, but nothing relating to it since 2010. Does anyone here have experience with it? It looks like a decent, inexpensive solution to getting the front of my Plaza down to match the 2" blocks I installed in the rear. I really don't mind the taildragger look, but I'd like to get the front down a bit too. http://www.butchscoolstuff.com/49-56-ford-mercury-many-others-bolt-... It is just a spacer to lower your spring plates. Drill out your spring plate rivets and bolt in the spacers. I haven't used a Butch's kit, but I didn't see any provision to screw in the sway bar clips. As far as the link the Old Ray posted, the Moog CC850's WILL NOT work. They are not long enough for 55-56 Dodge's and Plymouths, I have tried them personally just to know. The Fatman Fab dropped uprights are a great option, but you must also convert to disk brakes. Your basic option is to just cut a coil off your front springs. That will give you a 2-3" drop depending on how tired your original springs were. (Or you can get some new springs and cut those). I cut a coil off a set of old Plymouth springs and run 2" blocks in the rear with the original leafs on my '56 Dodge (same suspension as your car). Dave

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9681 Location: So. Cal | I don't really like the way lowered cars handle and drive with pot-holes and other issues. But I did lower the front of my '63 Nova and '64 Bug with drop spindles, and those felt great. So the only way I would do it is to purchase the drop spindles from FatMan. Otherwise, I wouldn't do it. http://www.fatmanfab.com/product/dropped-uprights-and-dropped-spind...

Member Posts: 15 Location: Batavia | Thanks for the replies. I think I'm going to go ahead and give this kit a try. Inexpensive and relatively simple to install, and if I like the way it handles, mission accomplished. If I don't like it I can move to the Fatman setup in the future. If I do install it, I'll report back about how it works. Dave, your Dodge looks great!
