| Hey there! So, I have a coronet that won't shift. Reverse has no issue. Any ideas gurus? Thanks a ton. |

Location: Chestertown, NY ( near Lake George) | Welcome to Forwardlook, torqueflite I assume? Won't come out of first? If so many things can cause this. Grossly mis -adjusted linkage, stuck governor, second gear band or appply struts broken or fell out (rare). Other internal issues are possible. If you have a shop manual there is a trouble chart for this.

First thing to do is check the kickdown (front) band adjustment, if it's OK try temporarily disconnecting the linkage and let the transmission lever come full forward...if it will upshift with the linkage disconnected, the linkage adjustment is the problem. |

| I believe it's a powerflite, having only low, drive and reverse (2 speed). Am I correct? And I am a decent airbrush artist but not a Transmission artist by any means, and direction as to what this linkage looks like and might be located? Thanks for the quick responses guys. |

With a Powerflite, disregard the band adjustment.
The transmission linkage that controls the upshifts is shown in yellow in this post:
