Board Moderator & Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 13054 Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | Is there anyone that could get me an e-mail address to Conway Motors Inc. in Baldwin New York? That dealer sold my car and from what I can understand they etablished the company in 1960 and they're still in business. Would be totally cool to find streetview photos from back then as well as the name of the seller.

Expert Posts: 2788 Location: USA - KY | Wizard, I've tried phoning every phone number listed for Conway Motors (Conway Parts, etc.), Baldwin, New York (Long Island/Queens) - the phone numbers seem to be either incorrect, or no longer in service - I keep receiving weird beeps on the phone, with no vocal explanations as to why. I was going to just phone them up and ask for their email address. Have you had any luck otherwise? Sorry I couldn't help.

Board Moderator & Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 13054 Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | Thanks guys, the e-mail contact form bounces back with error message and the street view confirms it's nothing there anymore. My guess is that the building with Louis Koch Real Estate 720 Sunrise Hwy, Baldwin, NY 11510, USA is the former Conway Motors Inc. I cannot understand why Google maps claims that it's Sunrise Hwy 24 when the building is 720? Perhaps they changed the street numbers since then??? The other building in that intersection was/is Sunrise National Bank 730 Sunrise Hwy and it's not plausible that it was a car dealer before. I contacted Conway Motors Inc headquarter, but also this is fuzzy - they had two used cars for sale

I dont get out that way often, but I do have a friend who live close to that location. BTW, Sunrise Highway is a State Highway that sometimes is referred to as its Alias, Route 27.

Board Moderator & Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 13054 Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | Also guys, I was checking the title of my car - the last American title spans from August 2002 to date of sale the 18th January 2006. Is there a reliable way to obtain a full vehicle history in USA, searching, let's say only the VIN number? If so, is there a reasonable cost for this?

Expert Posts: 2788 Location: USA - KY | My hubbins is from Baldwin, and he thinks he remembers the name "Conway" in relation to some sort of auto business. It seems that the company might have gone out of business? The latest info that I could find regarding this business seems to be from 2007? in approx. 2012, I received a copy of my car's old "IBM Computer Card" from the Chrysler Museum in Detroit - I'm not sure that this museum is still open, but I think that kind of info can still be obtained from their archives. Here is the Chrysler Museum's latest link for archival info: http://www.fcanorthamerica.com/company/Heritage/Pages/Historical-Se... I'm not sure if they can help with the kind of info you are seeking, but it might be a start? Edited by FIN ME 2015-12-13 5:52 PM

Board Moderator & Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 13054 Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | Oh - sorry, I didn't inform in this thread! Yes, the Chrysler historical service is open and they even have a better microfiche reader soon. They have "improved", practically raised the prices, but you can now order a email with high resulution scan of the IBM-card. Mind that the quality of the microfiche sets the quality. I ordered and I got a fair readable IBM-card, I also got the wrong shipping date on their cover letter, but they corrected that in 2 Days time. So thats how I know that my car was sold by Conway Motors Inc. in Baldwin New York. My guess is that they have gone soth or been bought up by Another Company. Thankful for any information....

Location: Parts Unknown | Tracing a car's interim history between shipping (from CHS) or purchase (info we get/ know when we buy the car) can be a real challenge. It used to be, one could go to the State licensing agency and if the clerk was cooperative, get any history of the car while licensed in that state. But with privacy laws (thanks to our ID theft friends) and public agencies always trying to cut loads/costs, either they don't keep such records anymore, or they won't give them out to anyone buy the person listed on such record, which presents the Catch 22 .... if you could bring all previous owners into the licensing agency, they'd give out the record for each present ! .... of course, the objective here is to figure out WHO those previous owner are in the forst place, so you might make contact or have that information !!!!

Location: Bjorneborg, Finland | Things were different in 1998.. My DeSoto was first titled in the state of Montana and exported out of MT in 1987. I ordered a complete title history from Montana DMV, micro-film printouts, starting from the application for a certificate of title for a new motor vehicle (dated Dec 8, 1960) to the final title (dated 08/13/80). It cost $9.50. Edited by spinout 2015-12-14 11:42 AM

Board Moderator & Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 13054 Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | So, does this means that it's not possible to get a title history anymore, or is it "only" more complicated?

Board Moderator & Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 13054 Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | I have digged into the scanned (microfiche) pages of the Nassau Daily Review Star and I understand that that newspaper wasn't published after 1952. Is here someone who knows which newspaper that "took over" the Baldwin area after 1952?
