Anyone out there recall seeing or have the junior cars promoted by DeSoto in 1958 and Plymouth in 1958, 1959, and 1960? These were motorized 1/3 or 1/14 size fiberglass cars that could be bought through the dealerships and sometimes were given away as prizes. I would like to get my hands on a Firemite and 58 Fury. Resources on the web include Lee Exline's new site JuniorCentral.com and D & S Pedal Car Restorations new site PowerCarCompany.com. Hope to hear some stories.

I hear there is a wrecking yard up north on route 13 that has nothing but miniature cars. Head out of Pispacattaquattymauken and it is on the right side near the asbestos mine.

I have seen a Firemite in person before. A friend of mine bought one and I picked it up on his behalf and then held it until he was ready to have it shipped.

Unusual item, very cheaply made...

I don't see them worth the money they bring....

May as well spend the money on the full size versions!

Paul - Don't know where you're located in Wis but if you haven't already, try and visit Elmers Auto Museum in Fountain City, Wis. This guy has a few buildings (nothing fancy) packed with pedal cars (hundreds), about a hundred full size cars and probably a million antique toys. Can't remember if I saw any mopar pedal cars but he could have some there. He's open several weekends in summer and fall. He has a website. Just type in "Elmers Auto Museum" in search engine.

I go to Elmers annually. He has no junior cars (motorized) but has a fabulous collection of toys, pedal cars and full fledged automobiles. Only Forward Look car I recall is a '60 300 F coupe. Lots of mopars though including virtually new Dodge Daytona and Plymouth Superbird. Sons operate the salvage yard now and did see a '57 D500 wagon there a couple years ago and got some '61 Chrysler parts. Definitely a must stop and see site along the Great River Road!
