Location: Jamaica Plain, MA | Hi, can anyone tell me where to find one of those $.50 steering insulators? The thing that fits between the steering shaft and PS box on a ConstantControl box. 58-66 on some units. I know Gary Goers has them, but I kinda need one in a week or so. I also imagine I can make one out of some garden hose and contact cement, but I'm open to suggestions. There is one on ebay, but it's $39 for a cheap little flap of rubber, and I have mouths to feed. Part number 1822668: Steering Shaft Insulator.
Kind regards, Jon

Location: Jamaica Plain, MA | Thanks. But I think the part at Bernbums isolates the outer column from the steering gear. I'm wondering about the u shaped rubber piece that seats between the steering shaft and the notch in the steering box. It isolates the steering shaft/wheel, and takes up free play between the box and the driver. Bernbaum's "STEERING GEAR TUBE INSULATOR" is the cross section of an inner tube rubber thing that goes between the outer column and the box. I think. I guess I'll call them.

Location: Jamaica Plain, MA | Thanks. The description in my FSM is different, "Steering shaft insulator," but that looks like the piece. No reason to be gruff, Sid. We are all in this together, and there is a "steering column insulator," which is quite different. Thanks. |
