Expert Posts: 1491 Location: Lordstown, Ohio | You know it makes me cringe when people say "Barrett Jackson quality" Most of the cars I have seen that people got from there aint no different then a ordinary auction. Some are as we said in the collision industry "stuff n scuffs" Yes before you get all knotted up, there are some nice ones also.

Expert Posts: 1886 | I was there last friday. A lot of cars were still not on the lot. Most of the mopar cars theres were driver quality. A lot of older resto's that looked very dated. Was really disappointed. I ended up buying a 69 dodge coronet wagon. I almost bought it at another auction, then got it worked out here. Left mecum and went to the fort lauderdale auction that had quite a few forward looks. They ended up selling their 59 dodge I believe, but others didn't meet reserve.

Elite Veteran Posts: 1172 Location: Georgia | Odd, the "61 plymouth wagon with patina" you've got listed is actually my old 1960 Plymouth 2-door wagon, which just 'sold' on eBay last month for $20,850. Here it is listed as sold for $23K--the photos are almost identical, except for the wheels changed. Hmm. Here is the link here when it sold: http://forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=67405&post... Pete

"Highlights: 1 of 5 believed to exist Believed to be 57,000 miles Same owner since 1970 Rebuilt original 318 CI engine 3-speed manual transmission Original Copper paint aged with patina Cream interior with NOS seats New rebuilt brake system and wheel cylinders" At least some of that has to be BS. Oh well if he bought it for $20K (ish) and sold it for $23K, he lost money on it based on the paint (roof) and interior, etc. that he put into it. I feel bad for him. I've had that problem before on camera gear I used to sell. Very frustrating when you sell something for a decent price only have the buyer e-mail you apologizing because he doesn't have the funds. At least he got more for it at the Mecum auction!

There was a lot of generous comments about that car when walking by it. Not going to lie, was surprised it went that high.

Expert Posts: 4043 Location: Connecticut | Mike McCandless - 2018-01-11 9:21 AM With fee's around 85-87k Wow ! That's crazy money. With a tan interior, those are probably not the original colors. Also willing to bet that it's not an original Super-D. It's too bad that the photos on the Mecum website are so small, without the ability to enlarge to a decent size. Ron

Location: Parts Unknown | Ron, ... you've been into FL cars for how long now ? ... and you act as if you don't know that ALL 59 Custom Royals and convertibles were built as Double-Extra Super D500's ! ... and they were all sold with wire wheels too ! Give it up, Dude. EVERYBODY knows that much about them !

Expert Posts: 1886 | The 59 dodge at fort lauderdale, cosmetically was a really nice car. Had been redone at some point to a high level on what appeared to be a very solid car. I don't know if the car was/wasn't a D500/Super D500 from the factory. Under hood showed a "little" age compared to the outside. I didn't look inside. The owner of the car has around 250 cars. He's setting up a museum in Fort Lauderdale with 60-70 cars, he has 140 in a museum in sweden. He had around 30 cars at auction in Fort Lauderdale, I think he sold around 10.

Veteran Posts: 136 Location: Cincinnati | Not to rain on anyones parade...but last weekend I was at Scottsdale Barrett Jackson on opening day.I walked the entire show of 1700 cars and there we maybe a handful of Forwardlooks and nothing special. I did see David Spade camped in front of a black unrestored Hemi Challenger. The interesting thing is you can see what is hot and moving. Without question it is all things Ford Bronco and an amazing assortment...and of course all things muscle car. Forwardlooks spotted.. 57 Desoto Fireflite Convert 62 Imperial Crown Convert 62 Chrysler 300 Convert May have been a few more but really no high FLs that I saw

Expert 5K+ Posts: 5006 | ford bronco's... junk.. I don't know how those became desirable... its like the S-10 blazer of the 90's... good riddance as they rotted in the junkyards. People are pickup/4*4 happy also. Spending 20k on a horrible junk 80'/90's 4*4... those things are utter garbage from late 70's to the 90's...
