Regular Posts: 75 | Ad states it's a manual trans, I see the push button block off plate and the steering column has no shifter. Could a 57 be built with a floor shifted manual from the factory?

I agree that I see a clutch pedal and an auto shifter housing with a decorative no-button cover plate *BUT* I would be very surprised that the manual shifter was on the floor from the factory. And Hurst Performance wasn't even founded until 1958. So I smell "something rotten in the state of Denmark". (no offense to the Danes) Edited by 56D500boy 2019-06-08 11:20 AM

He is just stating what is in it. Just like the round rear speakers and leopard skin material on the parcel shelf isn't factory. It's obvious it's hard a tarting up somewhere in it's lifetime.

Assuming the floor shifter is aftermarket, somebody sure did a good job of hiding any signs of the column shifter

Assuming the floor shifter is aftermarket, somebody sure did a good job of hiding any signs of the column shifter Car originally could of been an automatic hence the steering column. Buttons blocked off/ clutch pedal and setup fitted. Not an uncommon exercise. Car may have been on the tree but an owner may have just added the stick shift to the box linkages. Can't see if a shifter is on the side or middle of the tunnel. Also adding power steering which would use a different column. I know when changing/customizing something on a car, I sure would take the extra steps to tidying up the parts that I made obsolete. The photos don't give much away though. The red arrows underneath the trunk lid and Coronet badges being red have me curious about the original colour.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 509 Location: Whetstone, Arizona | No "V" emblem on the trunk lid says it started life as a 2bbl..came with the Custom Coronet interior....It also started life as a Red coupe......with the door and back panels removed you can make out the Red paint ...Royal glove box lid...has padded dash! Someone painted it the same color scheme as my 57 Coronet!! These photos are from when mine was rescued from the barn in Upstate NY and after a good cut and polish, freeing up the engine since it sat from 1966...it drives like a new car...just on 50k on the clock and its a D500!!
