Does anyone know what the difference between tail gate handles?
Is that locked luggage compartment option on the first pic?

Location: So. Cal | The difference is the top pic is a manual window crank, while the bottom pic is an electric window. All 9 passenger wagons received the electric window, while I believe that all 6 passenger wagons originally received the manual window. I'm not sure about 1959, but the manual window crank can have a lock cylinder in it as well. That's the way my later wagons are. |

So the tail gate window could have been lowered from the outside? |

Location: So. Cal | Both of them can be lowered from the outside. You have to crank the manual one, and use a key to lower the electric one. |

Why did they do it?
Why do they open the window from outside?
It should be operated from inside anyway… by push button… or crank if it manual, I think

Location: So. Cal | How do you get your groceries in and out of the trunk? Very inconvenient to have to go to the front to open it everytime. I didn't have a key for my tailgate for a long time so my only option was to open it from the driver's seat. I did this for many years, so I am very familiar with how inconvenient this is. |

Well, the LOCKED LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT option for 6-passenger Suburbans (code 328) worth it, I hope
