The big block equipped cars in 60 used the Borg Warner T-85, not sure if it was also used in 61.

From what I understand -- The T-85 did not come out untill 1962 and were in B-body MAX WEDGE CARS. Also if T 85's were used in a 60-61 Ram Car.s they would have to have a emergency brake on the back of the transmission. Ive seen plenty of T-85 3 speed transmissions- non of them carry a brake on the back of the transmission.

I have always understood that the '61 300G cars with manual transmissions used the Plymouth heavy duty (taxi cab option?) manual three speed). Since a number of 375 HP 300Gs were built with the manual, and most survive, I take this result to mean that trans was "adequate" with 375 HP and whatever the torqe rating. However the TWO 400 HP 300Gs with manual trans had greater torque. Both those cars had their transmissions replaced VERY early.

The 400HP Versions got the french (pont a mouson?) 4 speed, not the domestic 3 speed.

I personally owned a 60 Plymouth with a 361 4bbl. that came from the factory with the BW T-85. Yes it had a parking brake on the back.I am pretty certain it was used in 59-60 in Dodge and Plymouth cars with the big block engines The A745 was used in the 61 and newer cars. The standard Chrysler 3 speed was a much weaker trans as I had one in my 57 Fury and broke several of them with the 318. That is why Chrysler switched to the T-85 for the BB engines. A version of this trans. was also used in the 62-63 max wedge cars minus the parking brake.
