can I put a voltage drop off the voltage regulator wire that goes to the dash ,or do I have to put one on everything separately? I noticed from the wiring diagram that there is a wire off the voltage regulator that goes to all the dash switches

It depends on which regulator you are going to use. Just get one with more than the required power draw from everything you plan to hook up to it, and you could do that. If you have no idea how much power everything uses, you could hook up a 6 volt batter to that wire with an amp-meter connected in between, and see how much current it pulls. Multiply that by 6 volts, and that's your power. Double that power to be safe, and that's the minimum regulator you would need.
