Expert Posts: 4042 Location: Connecticut | If you presently have a line that runs directly from the pump to the carb, then adding the glass bowl filter (assuming you have a 55-9 Mopar) will involve redoing the fuel line. One of the easiest fuel lines to fabricate, it should take an hour at most. If you are thinking of adding an aftermarket plastic filter, you will also have to cut the line. Ron

You can save your existing line and make a new fuel line from a Poly Armour Steel PA-530 or Nickel Copper CN530 line (if you have double flare kit). Double Flare Reference: http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=77037&... I gather that you want to end up with something like this: Edited by 56D500boy 2022-03-18 12:47 PM

Veteran Posts: 189 Location: Northern Illinois | thanks guys for the input, btw its a 55 dodge 270 hemi with the stromberg ww 2bbl carb. looks like the glass bowl filter is my only option for a filter at the carb?. i was hoping they had made a modern steel filter that i can take the fuel line off the carb, attach the filter to the carb and then mount the line to the filter. some of the ones i found i would have to take the fitting off the carb. cant on the ww because of the float needle is in the fitting

It has female double inverted flare (DIF) fittings on the inlet and outlet. Put a female DIF adpater in the carb if it doesn't have one, make up a line with two male DIF nuts on each end that runs from the carb to the filter, and make up another line from the filter down to the pump. Another option is something like Wix 33046 that has a 1/8" male NPT to 5/16" barb if your carb fitting is pipe thread. Edited by PolyJ 2022-03-19 12:07 AM

Expert 5K+ Posts: 6500 Location: Newark, Texas (Fort Worth) | This wix with different adapters may just work. Seems most of these new ones have 16mm x 1.5 threads or so. https://hotrodfuelhose.com/products/factory-style-inline-fuel-filter... Expert 5K+ Posts: 9675 Location: So. Cal | That's the same WIX 33481 or MAHLE KL676. Those other adapters you show are not useful because in the metric world there are a million different specs for how to make a connection and you can easily get the wrong one. This fuel filter must have the o-ring type of seal at the end of it like what is shown in your first link. That adapter is hard to find, so you are pretty much stuck with making -AN6 lines. Fortunately, my awesome flaring tool setup has the 37 degree fittings required to do them, but the tube nuts are more expensive than the standard double flare fittings - especially in stainless. There is another filter: Wix 33238 that comes with 2 different fittings attached to the 16x1.5mm fittings on the filter. I'm not sure what those are, but they might get you out of using -AN lines if you don't like them. Mahle KL287 has metric M14x1.5 at the inlet and M12x1.25 at the outlet, but it's not clear if they are bubble fittings, double flare fittings, or 0-ring seals. You'd almost have to find a '96-2000 Honda to figure it out. I did find an application that had US 5/16" tube double flared fittings on each end, that I found by searching through boxes at the autoparts store, back when they actually carried stuff in stock. I never knew what the application for it was though, and I was never able to find it again when I went to look for it.
