Veteran Posts: 148 | I've learned the following about the VIN tag on my Adventurer. 7=DeSoto 2=Adventurer 0=Year (1960) 3= East Jefferson Avenue Plant Following that first four digit series in six digits, which I am told is the sequence number of the car as it rolled of the line. My question: Does that six digit sequence go for DeSoto to date or just for 1960? Insight would be greatly appreciated!

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9912 Location: Lower Mainland BC | NC Adventurer - 2021-09-19 11:01 AM Do you know of any way to decipher the production date from either the VIN tag or the fender tag? The fender/cowl tag should have the date on it. Typically lower left corner, four digits. First 2 = month, second 2 = day 59 Dodge example (Sept 26 (09 26) (sorry I don't have images of any 60 Desoto cowl tags) but I do have some 60 Desoto build sheet/invoices: Edited by 56D500boy 2021-09-19 2:20 PM (59dodgeCowlTag.jpg) (1960AdventurerBroadcastSheet_Large.jpg) (1960AdventurerInvoice.jpg) Attachments ---------------- 59dodgeCowlTag.jpg (248KB - 204 downloads) 1960AdventurerBroadcastSheet_Large.jpg (233KB - 200 downloads) 1960AdventurerInvoice.jpg (237KB - 199 downloads)

Veteran Posts: 148 | Afternoon Everyone, Digging in deeper (after locating the data tag), I've found the following numbers beneath a corresponding letter above it. Beneath the J is a 6, beneath the TV is a 91 and beneath the Y is an 8. Beneath the paint designation, there is BB1. I understand that one B means black and that the 1 means a single color vehicle, which explains the black top over the black body as compared to the many white topped Adventurers I've seen. What does the second B mean? What would the difference be between the 806 and 816 trim codes? Thanks a million for all the help deciphering my data tag. Does anyone know what those codes mean?

What does the second B mean? Todd: I think that you are trying to overthink these codes. BB-1 was just the code for all Black. (Save the image below for your files:) The note at the bottom of the paint chip chart suggests that the first letter of the paint code is the roof colour and the second is the lower body colour. So BB = all black. WB = white roof/black body, etc. Edited by 56D500boy 2021-09-19 6:14 PM

Veteran Posts: 148 | That's what I was thinking, too. The roof color was one letter while the body color was another. The one, according to some charts, indicates one color. I'd actually just like to figure out the other codes (the numbers) beneath the letter line. I'm sure its just options but it would be nice to compare them to the actual car.

So basically, you are hoping for answers to this (J6, T9, V1 and Y8) (There are a couple of guys in Europe that will likely have some or all of the answers): In the meantime, your car was built on or around May 26, 1960. (That's all I've got - I'm a 56 Dodge guy who sometimes has other info to share - like the 60 Adventurer build sheet and invoice (for the same car)):

I don't know how to read it. Are the little black punch marks supposed to line up with number codes on the left to mean something? Well, crap. It won't copy/paste or attach. It's a PDF file. Right now the pdf is too big. Dave F (56D500Boy)" The black lines are the hole punches and they don't necessarily line up with the lettering.
