Hey Forward look guys & gals. I am trying to build a 1/25th scale 1956 Dodge Sierra Custom wagon for my Dad as a replica of one of his long gone cars. I started out with a way out of proportion resin body that was made based on the original 1956 4 door Dodge Lancer promo.
Models from pre 1961 were made of materials that warped over time and the person that made the wagon conversion must have had a fairly warped promo to start with. He then compounded the problem by forcing a roof from (best guess) a Chevy Nomad wagon onto it thus leading to a host of other proportional and shape issues. I have spent many hours correcting the proportional errors and trueing up the roof to be wedge shaped. After putting in many hours on correcting the body (not completely done yet) I decided to go all out and add an engine bay and chassis to this model. I used parts from an AMT 58 Plymouth Belvedere for the chassis and floor pan and parts from an AMT 41 Plyouth for the front coil suspension.

What would really help this project along is photo's of emblems (taken as close-ups and straight on) , the Boom-a -rang interior that Dad says ours had, and pics of a 56 wagon rear floor pan and suspension taken if the car is up on a lift. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the final proportion problem solved- I had moved the entire greenhouse toward the rear to get the roof and quarters to line up, but then the cowl was not right- I realized that the slant of the windshield taken from the Lancer 4 door promo was wrong for the wagon and ended up cutting the cowl free and pushing it forward to its original location:

Here on top is the AMT 58 Plymouth Belvedere firewall- no good for the 56 Dodge so below is my scratchbuilt heater box almost done that will be glued onto the flat sheet plastic firewall on the body. to the right is the scratchbuilt air cleaner made from 2 wheel backs and a craft bead with the raised part made from a sticky labled cut to shape and applied, then the piece molded in rubber and recast in resin.:


Here is a pic taken of an auction sale that shows the interior boom-a-rang material I need a nice close-up pic of and pics of the whole interior that shows where the material is used:

Location: Parts Unknown		Note that our car is a Custom Sierra. This is denoted by the "upgraded" interior. From what I have been able to determine, the upgrade means the vertically grooved inserts and aprons (horizontal on door panels) and silver mylar inserts high on door panels and rear interior panels.

Exterior badging kept the 55 style "Sierra" quarter script with no special marking for "Custom" models - all 4 door wagons got only this emblem.

Hood script is the new 56 style lettering, and of course, if the car were so ordered, you got the crossed flag D-500 emblem placed as shown and another on the tailgate (not shown).

Thank you for posting the pics....Dad remembers the silver mylar on the upper door panels ( could you get some pics of the doors and rear area inside showing that mylar stuff?) but our car had a different seat material - the one I had shown a bit of in my last pic- some people referred to it as Boom-a-rang because of the shape in the print. Dad was very sure about that. This week I am going to try and get some photo's off the 8mm films but I know there are no interior shots. But I can show you the original color of the car. ( Dad bought the car when it was only a couple of years old and the film is from 1958-59.

Location: Parts Unknown		I claim to be no absolute expert on 56 Dodge wagons. I will do a lot ot research on the cars I own as time allows. This one has not gotten the attention my DeSoto has, but from what I have learned so far, if you had the Mylar inserts, you had THAT seat fabric. I have been told by multiple sources that there were no options in pattern or color on the wagons. Only the grooved material mentioned earlier was different from the Sierra to the Custom Sierra (and the added Mylar).

I can get you pix of the Mylar tomorrow. Anything else while I am shooting ?

It is a fact that sometimes Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge sometimes used up stuff from the previous model year as the new models went into production- could the seat material I am looking for be from the 1955 model year?

I was 75 feet from the car all day and even had the camera at hand, but was on the losing end of a shovel playing ground guy for the backhoe dude. Not sure when I can be here during good light before the weekend, but we'll see ....

has been a great help with undercarriage photo's...I am still in need of pics from any 55 or better 56 Dodge 3 seat wagons. I need pics of the rear seat configuration. The guy on the other massage forum got his car with the rear seat missing. Please help !

Yes I know it is an old thread but I am still hopeful.

I am embarking on building a 1/25 Dodge D500 4 dr Custom Royal sedan model build using one of those crappy AMT 4 dr Lancer promo models as a base.

I have the AMT "model" (warped of course) and a MCW (Model Car World) 1/25 Resin 56 Dodge 2dr sedan D-500 (via decals) that I would like to build into a 56 Dodge 4dr sedan D500.

The roof and glass will come from the MCW kit.

In my dreams, I would add an opening hood and hemi engine (the 56 Dodge D-500s had a 315 cu in hemi).

To that end, I bought a Moebius 1207 56 Chrysler 300 B model today to cannibalize for the chassis and motor. Obviously, many modifications will be required (including taking 6" (scale) (about 0.24 in actual) out of the length).
