Buy a larger prismatic mirror and have it cut to correct dimension. The photocell peephole can be made with a drill machine and a round wood, type barbecue stick and chrome polish.

I'm not following you .... what about the round wood  statement ? the original  mirror glass does not have   a hole drilled thru it . it just does not have the silvering  the shape of the hole.

but a Good idea overall. Thanks !

Mount the round wood in the drilling mchine chuck, protect the mirror with carton with a hole for the peephole. Polish away the silver layer carefully - done.
I have glued a piece of felt on the wood for nicer shape.

Those prismatic mirror glasses are virtually the same size in many 1960s through 1980s cars. A friend of mine did exactly what Wizard said on his own Mirror-Matic and it came out perfect.
