Hi gents! I just saved a 1957 wi sword 2 door off of a farm that was destined to go into the crusher with some other cars unfortunately. The car will need new rockers and front floor pans (no big deal at all) and other than that the body is solid. The seats and hubcaps are missing, but other than that everything is there. This car was loaded up from the factory with power steering, brakes, windows and it has a power antenna.
It will be a future project for me.
I was hoping that you forward look experts could help with decoding the firewall tag for me. The paint code is really throwing me off as it reads 2711 which I always thought on a 2 tone car meant 27 was the roof and side panel colour, and 11 was the body colour however I’m not having any luck on finding what either of those colours are.
I believe the trim code is KBR but I need to give it a better clean.
Any decode help would be appreciated!

The tag reads

MODEL. C75-2-SPEC CL CPE
BODY NO. 297
PAINT CODE 2711
TRIM CODE KBR?

Todd:

MODEL. C75-2-SPEC CL CPE
BODY NO. 297
PAINT CODE 2711
TRIM CODE KBR

All of which are Canadian codes. With Chrycoman out of action for now, we are unlikely to be able to give you the info you need.

The tag with the info above will look similar to this one from a Canadian 56 Dodge Custom Royal 4dr hardtop

SPEC CL CPE = Special Club Coupe = i. e. Two Door Hardtop body style

BODY NO 297 = 297th Canadian Chrysler Windsor 2 Door Hardtop built

PAINT CODE 2711 = Sunset Red over Icecap White

TRIM CODE KBR = 1957 model year (K), Unknown trim color (B), Unknown trim material (R)

Great job digging that Canadian car info up Igor. We have relied on Chrycoman in the past for that kind of info.

Thanks for the great info Igor, that’s exactly what I was hoping for. Are the colours Canadian renamed US colours?

I would presume that the engine should be a 354 Spitfire Poly

12 - Laurel Blue Metallic
13 - Monaco Blue *
14 - Wavecrest Blue
15 - Lagoon Turquoise
16 - Deep Turquoise Metallic *
17 - Elgin Green Metallic
18 - Ocean Green Metallic
19 - Pinefrost Green
20 - Botany Brown Metallic * (1957 DeSoto Firedome/Fireflite)
21 - Gunmetal Metallic (1957 Plymouth - LA plant)

27 - Sunset Red (1957 Chrysler)
28 - Peach Glow Coral (1957 Chrysler)
29 - Sunglow Yellow (1956-57 Plymouth)

* - Unique Canadian colour.
All other colours were American. If known, the American model using that colour is listed.

Two tone codes were a combination of the single tone colours, with the first code for the roof / insert and the second for the body colour.

American 1957 paint codes :
