| The car needs steering correction regularly while driving along
I have had the tracking set and adjusted the steering box which made a 50% improvement but the steering still needs correcting while driving.
The upper and lower control arm bushes and strut rod bushes look past their best so I plan to change these any info on doing this work appreciated also info on any other likely causes of the problem appreciated Also I wondered if I should change the ball joints and tie rod ends at the same time
Thanks in advance any help and info much appreciated Phil |

Location: Alaska | What tires are you running? Bias ply tires tend to wander more than radials but your choice, look more original or handle better. |

Location: Under the X in Texas | I assume you have had new alighnment done since parts replacement. Wondering if they read the factory settings wrong (or if you provided them to the shop). There is nothing more positive for straight line steering than adding positive CASTER to an alignment. A "performance alignment" is to add all the positive caster that the suspension components will allow. It will make the car just slightly more difficult to turn but with power steering you may not notice this at all.
Ask a Bonneville salt flats competitor who needs to STAY ON THE LINE: Maximize positive caster. A friend ran + 14 degrees caster at Bonneville. In a Forward Look car you'll do well to get upwards of 3 degrees positive caster. |

Also take a good hard look at the idler arm. Terrible design.
One of the members here made a kit to replace the rubber bushing with bearings and a sleeve - I think I got the last one he had, made a huge improvement in the on-center tracking of the car . . .
