Can anyone tell me if the 1957 torqueflite trans from a 1957 will
Fit a 1956 desoto fireflite? I have a 3 speed push button will just need a cable

Pretty sure that the answer is "YES" with some qualifications.

Have a read on this (my experiences putting a 57 Chrysler Windsor torqueflite into a 56 Dodge that had a Powerflite):

Location: So. Cal		An easy swap, you just need to modify the position of the trans mount, modify your driveshaft, and possibly add an oil cooler to your radiator if the new trans has that. Some '57 3-speed transmissions are air cooled.
