Location: Falcon, CO | A friend's 56 Fury pedal does not return when pressed to the floor. I haven't removed the carpeting yet, but I know the pedal is mounted to the floor by 3 screws, just like my 58 Belvedere. Is there a spring inside the floor mount that may have broke?

Location: Falcon, CO | I finally got back to this problem after shoulder surgery and a stroke. I unscrewed the pedal bracket from the floor and removed the assembly. The boot under the bracket was filled with sand, dirt, and rust; all of which acted as a brake on the pivot at the bottom of the pedal. After dumping the dirt, I blasted the assembly, primed it and re-installed the boot. I will bolt every thing tomorrow and check the movement.
The owner of the 56 Fury lives in rural eastern Colorado and many of the local roads aren't paved. All of the dirt fell through the small hole around the pedal. |
