I'm in GA-L, row 0, seats 160 and 161.

Since I've never been in Tulsa, I have no idea where I'm sitting. How far am I from the floor?

Rob, once you sit down, there, my guess is about 18".

The highest-registered tickets, on this thread, are "57 Belevedere", @ #222. Dunno about Brenda's ticket-numbers, though.

C'mon; who is the "highest" ticket-holder, so far?

Hey, I got our tickets to the unveiling !!!!!!
GA L O seats 225 and 226
I am not kidding..... It took me about two days of trying. At least 20 times.
I have been doing all the leg work on this adventure for me and my husband. I did Mapquest Oct. 2006 to find the motels that would be the closest to the dig site. Double Tree and Crown Plaza came up. Tried Double tree they were booked solid. Next choice was Crown Plaza,4 blocks away. Got rooms for 66.00 a night with my husband's veteran's discount. We live in Alabama and will coming in on Thurs. Hey, Brenda; "originally" , I was trying to schedule the Crown Plaza, as I had thought that it was the closest to the County Courthouse, but later determined that the 'Tree was closest, & a little chjeaper, but 'held' a lot more "people".

The Crown Plaza IS ritzy (Oprah stayed there, last year, on her cross country sojurn) , but, please check-out the other thread, "here" : "Hampton Inn: Plan B"; Ron Waters a safe-but-(un-)sane FWDLK'er, whom I can personally vouch-for, arranged to stay there, & IF you & your lesser-half would like to commune with a lot of other nutso's, I suggest that you consider reserving your rooms @ the Hammie Inn !!!

There should be a LOT of FWDLK'ers staying there!

See ya there, at any (room-) "rate" !!!!!!

In the "official" Tulsarama info that Fearless Dave first posted, there was a place that tickets could be obtained.( carsons attractions) So there may be additional tickets sold that may not show up on this thread. Also there may be some non FLer's that have reserved early. Whatever -- there sure is enough of us already to have a PARTY! ..........................................5%................

NYUK, NYUK, NYUK---just for grins, I logged back onto the Tusaramadingdong show, & started to order 2 additional seats,
and discovered that the NEXT two "seats" are 303 & 304, so, there are 302 "seats" (general admission tickets) sold, to date,
out of a total-availability, downstairs, of 900.

Just checked (2/28/07) and the next available "seat" is 384, so, there are 383 (a nice number) tickets sold, downstairs, to date,
for Virgil's Birthday Party.

OOOOMMMMGGGG; I just did a seat-check (for downstairs,. as per-perviously done....) aaaaannnddd: the confuser told me:

that LOWER SEATING IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE!!!!!!!!!!!

It tried to sell me (actual, apparently!) assigned seats (in a specific 'row', # 46 & 47 !!!!!) upstairs.

DAYYUUUMMM, the lower section sold out quickly (if 'this' be true!)

So, CONGRATULATIONS, everyone who has signed up !

NOW: go "scalp" your tickets!!!!!!!

only-available UPSTAIRS seating!!

BUT, HEY, the VIEW is better, up there, with the "nose-bleeders " !!!!!

600 people is STILL a lot of folks.

FinFury Jan: when are you going to arrive in L.A. ??

I have a friend who is going to take the long-way, to Tulsa, via Route 66, over several days.

I and a couple others are going to beat-feet to T-Town, directly, on Route 40, over 2 days, leaving SoCal on MON 6/11/07.

You might be able to caravan with my friend, or drive, with my little parade!!

Neil,
we will arrive in L.A. on the 7th and plan to be in Tulsa on the 13th. So, we have nearly a week to get there. The plan (or rather NOPLAN) is simply to take it slow and stop the sights when they come along. Any suggestions anyone?

I might join the caravan from CA with my 1970 Dodge D300 car hauler. I'm currently doing some mechanical upgrades on it, hopefully everything will be ready and A-OK well before the event!

FinFury, looks like there will be at least a couple of vehicles with finnish Exner fans coming to this great event! That's too cool!

Jan,

Where did you check for rental cars? I think pretty much anything is available in L.A.? Thrifty has Sebring convs, many companies have Mustangs and the sky is the limit if you don't mind paying, Viper, 60:s and 70 Caddys, '59 Eldorado etc. Too bad National canceled their classic fleet

I'm thinking of going to Stroud...might be difficult to find parking for my car hauler in downtown Tulsa. Cough, cough, might need a ride to Tulsa though...anyone, anyone...Bueller? Or maybe rent a car for a couple of days?

It would be cool if the FWDLK crowd would have shirts with the FWDLK logo and their board name, that would make it easier to recognize everybody. Wouldn't cost a whole lot to do locally either.

Hans,
we tried a couple of places. Some of them list convert sebrings but somehow they 'were not available' - even if we tried to book them nearly 6 months in advance. Funny. Well, we did not book any so I guess there is still hope...

T-shirts? Have you seen the ones Glenn from NewZealand has for sale? Not excactly 'official' Forwardlook.net shirts but then again I do no think they are offered for sale anywhere else either...

Just ordered my tickets today although I don't have far to drive. Although I've had quite a few Mopars, no big fins ones yet. I'll probably show up in the Challenger or 64 Savoy, if it's ready. I've read some of the posts about the courthouse area where the time capsule is located and have considered taking some photos ,when I'm in the Tulsa area, to post what the surroundings look like. I see from reading some of your posts, you have a cruise scheduled from Stroud to Tulsa. Has anyone considered meeting up at the Admiral Drive-in on Friday night after the viewing at the Tulsa Convention Center? Sorry, I'm not up on all the planned activities. Although not in Tulsa, I'm in the local Mopar club in the Oklahoma City area. I don't know if it's possible, but if there's any help we can provide about the area, let us know.

Hi, Gary! Welcome aboard! Unless it's a very-large place, the "Admiral" may become swamped with cars, after the un-veiling.

The "show" will probably last an hour, and people may hang-around, looking at Virgil, and/or at the other inside "show" cars,
for a while, so the festivities @ the Admiral may not get 'going' til around 9PM.

Where is the Admiral located?

The Admiral Drive-in is right off of I-244 in Tulsa and holds up to a 1000 cars with two screens. They hosted the Hot Rod Power Tour one year when it went through Tulsa. Since it doesn't get dark till about 9 PM, the show wouldn't start till then anyway. I've even thought about giving them a call and see if they would show a Mopar related movie such as Christine, Vanishing Point, etc, for that evening. Here's a link to Oklahoma Drive-In's.

Article in yesterdays (March 13) Tulsa World confirms there are no reserved seats. Don't know what kind of seating it actually is but it sounds like a cluster to me....Here is the exact quote "there are two classes of ticket--costing $10 and $5--but no reserved seats".

shame that we have to settle for a rental...

There's an appropriate ride on eBay now....

Hey, Clive; the seller MIGHT be receptive to a "serious" offer, now, after 'four' unsuccessful ebay "auction-attempts" !

Jim's just trying to be helpful (play, nice, now; you sound a little bit frustrated, ;-)))) ).

You do realize that good-cars will ONLY seem to "fall-from-the-SKY", once/after you actually BUY your car !!!

Thanks Jim, but it's on the wrong coast.
And anyway, I frankly don't want to drive an old car that I know nothing about all accross California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas to Tulsa. I might miss the whole event. Our time table is so strict that there is no time go throught the car and check its condition or do any repairs. If we would buy a car, like it was our original intention, it would need to come from a bit more reliable source than e-bay - someone who can avouch for it's condition.
I guess it's better just to settle for a boring rental sedan. Are you still planning to take your Dodge (red or blue?) along?

Wow; a couple thoughts; I'm not sure about "Thrifty" Rental company, but, DOLLAR Rent a Car 'specializes' in Chryco's.

I don't "see" how they wouldn't have them available, in L.A.(of all places!!!)

Jim Hoekendijk 'got' a Sebring convie, & ran the wheels and the top "off" it (metaphorically), a year ago! Jim (Benjaminson): we've previously reported that the Big Party will be 1st-come(in-line)-first-entered, and that the "seat numbers" are merely accounting-numbers, and that, reportedly, there will be 900 (probably folding-chair-type) seats available, "downstairs", at the Convention Center. OH, WOW, I failed to realize that the "Admiral" is a MOVIE drive-in, & not a "food" drive-in.

Now, THAT does sound like fun! And, a great way to support a 'dying' 50's icon!!! "Forwardlook", my litle car-avan will depart Apple Valley (close to I-40 interchange) at about 7:30 on MON 6/11/07; if that time/place is convenient with you, plaes PM me, & we can discuss the 'formation' locale.

Back on 3/20, I wrote to Paula Hale (see "Big-Dig info " thread) and asked about the number of "downstairs" seating
availability, as there wer, then, 1148 seats 'sold'.

She wrote back to say, on 3/21 (thanx, Paula!) that there will be some 1362 seats available, downstairs.

Checked the seat reservations, today, and discovered that "seats" (actually: only 'accounting-numbers', and NOT
actual 'seat-numbers') # 1331-1332 were available.

THAT means that "we" are within about THIRTY seats of "booking the entire downstairs seating capacity, of the
Connie Center !!!!!

Up to "1,632" people will be standing in line, to get the downstairs seats, at 5:30 PM, on Friday 6/15/07,
to lay-eyes on a car that had been 'entombed', for FIFTY years......

SOLD-OUT!!!!!! Sometime , between my-previous, on 3/28/07, and today, the LOWER LEVEL, containing reportedly 1,632 seats
became SOLD -OUT !!!!!!!

In fact, the confuser tried to sell me upper level 'seats' # 472 & 473 !!!!!

I just thought of a Theme Song, for Virgil's Birthday Party, sung to a possibly recognizable tune:

"You load 1600(folks) lower, and what do you get? a major pile-up, and bruises to spare! "
