The Vendome Hotel gives this away as Leadville, Colorado. You'd never guess
with the obscured background that you are at an elevation of 10,000 in the The
Cloud City, right alongside the continental divide ! From what you CAN see, it
might as well be Ohio or Missouri !

Joakim, that makes me think of a what happened to me long ago....
One time when we had gone camping when I was a young boy, I will always remember the '56 Chrysler New Yorker that was parked in the campsite next to ours. The owner had 2 boys my age, and invited me to go with them for ice cream. Compared to the '38 Chevy we had, the Chrysler was outstanding. The thrill of the ride in that beautiful car created a lasting memory.

Nice Picture! Would it not be nice to walk in there after a timetravel and buy all of the cars in that lot - then travel back to the present time with all of them! A good day's work:)

What if you now time travel there a week before the picture was taken and buy all the cars? What will happen to this picture posted here already, because it was an empty yard when the photographer arrived?

The truck in that photo looks like a 55 Dodge Job Rated 1/2 ton. We had one of those when I was a kid. It was ancient, popped out of second unless you held the shift on position. It was the first vehicle I ever drove on the road by myself, at the tender age of 9, no less.

They are at least as rare as the Forward Looks today. I haven't seen one in many, many years.

I'm sure I have a pic of one somewhere...

They never came here, our pickups and trucks reached '53 and didn't change until '59, then the change was solely to the grille and headlights, we never had the dogleg windscreen pillars or the 'Job Rated' badging.

This one, however, is in upstate NY, the lower pic in northern Washington, where there was quite a few:

The 58 Dodge wagon, as seen above, merely has dirty Corporate-Eggshell painted wheels.

The pretty woman, in the Mink stole, above, Ray, is looking straight into the sun...poor lady.

She looks like a fun loving person.

Mother Mopar looked on their 50's truck design with less than aesthetic design
in mind, like Harley Earl & Co. was doing. It was as if they did not consider the
market slice worthy of investment beyond just building a basic truck like International
did. Earl's efforts were great looking, but it is like hearing a great song too many
times ... I am just sick of them.

Personally, I think Studebaker built the best looking fat rendered trucks. Both the
C and M models were nicely proportioned and detailed.

If impressions I've gained of the Forward Look era are correct, I'm sure a lot of 'fun loving' ladies were prepared to accept mink stoles in lieu of gold bands.

It wouldn't have been the case here, I'd think... a wife seeing this photo would be pretty unhappy!

Of these two photos, the truck on the bottom bears the greatest
resemblance to the one I knew. I have looked around for a decent
photo of it, but none seem to exist.
