Location: Branson, MO		I really don't have fond memories of the St. Louis plant. In the late '90s our Chrysler TC by Maserati club wanted to visit the plant for one of our club activities. Due to the fact the TC was not totally built in the USA (some minor assembly/emissions were required once they hit the shore), the union would not let us park our cars in the plant parking lot. This was a total surprise to us so we decided to forgo the visit and went to the Auto and Train Museum instead. Glad we did - it was great! They even had my favorite MoPar of all time there - the Chrysler Turbine Car.

Location: Ponder, TX		The convertible picture makes me curious also. It is a '57 Plymouth but has 1958 on the license frame and what appears to be a dent in the rear bumper. I wonder if someone did some more recent creative photography to make them appear old.

Location: Vancouver, BC		All those photos appear to be from photo shoots for the Chrysler Corporation. Different locations, different positions of the cars, etc. Have a nice shot of a 1960 Imperial LeBaron taken in front on old abandoned building. That same photo appeared in the 1960 Imperial brochure, but parked in front of a very posh mansion.

The photos are actually from the collection of AACA - Antique Automobile Club of America. They have photos going back over a hundred years and have various photos on sale on eBay. The reds are not holding up well in these photos. A problem even with red paints in the 1940's.

The 1957 convertible not only has the 1958 plate but also a 1957 Plymouth trunk emblem and a dealer emblem.

Dart - 46,716
Plymouth - 46,629
Valiant - 16,109
Matador/Polara - 1,974

The Polara was gone from the St.Louis line for 1961 and replaced by the Lancer.

The photo of the factory line has a Matador sedan in front of the two tone Belvedere sedan. Can't tell if there are any more Matadors or Polaras further ahead.

There's a dealer tag on the trunk too, which would be quite weird for a period factory photo.

Location: Vancouver, BC		A British Vauxhall Cresta. Not many of them were sold in Canada and the U.S.

Can't see it in the photo, but the rear window on the Cresta (and the cheaper Velox) was a three piece affair, as on 1957 Oldsmobiles and Buicks.

Notice the stainless cowl, and you can see the adjuster for the center mirror mount. You can also see the B-pillar and the start of a C-pillar. There is an odd white object on the dash though that's weird.

Agree: Circa 1968-75 which makes the hat on the hood of the 56 Plymouth look a lot like a Viet Nam vet's souvenir hat to me.

If we are looking at the same odd, white object, it's probably the cowl for the instrument cluster on the 1957 and 1958 Plymouth sedans. The cadet visor over the windshield was used on 1957-1959 Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto and Chrysler sedans and wagons.

As the rear view mirror is more toward the centre rear of the instrument panel, that would make it a 1957 Plymouth The 1958-59 rear view mirror mounts were closer to the driver and usually mounted on the side of instrument cluster cowl.

I wonder why Ray Metzker took this photo, circa 1963. Look up his pictures, kinda nice and disturbing. Can't see a white object and can't make out if it's a sedan or a wagon. We will never know, one car of millions in another time period, well another planet or universe a million years ago.
