Remember the Carson's Restaurant in San Marcos, Texas, that I couldn't locate?
Well, I got quite some help from the San Marcos Assistant City Manager,
and Librarian of the San Marcos Public Library,
who was so kind to look it up in an old Telphone Directory.
So, here it is!

Good score, Jim! Looks like a whole new building, but still a restaurant, or coffee shop, so eating out can still be fun!

A couple more glimpses of the not-so-distant past...

Thanks a lot for posting your pictures. The 1957trunk picture I like most. For the 1956 Chrysler New Yorker Chrysler advertised a mammoth size trunk. I guess all these girls could seat in a Chrysler (or De Soto or Imperial) trunk as well.

Happy motoring!

This picture of the Dodge station wagon has been posted before. (1959?) I believe it was noticed by me and some others that the wagon had a 501 emblem attached to the right fin. Sure wish I knew where that car was today as chances are it had some drool-worthy equipment.

Buck Baker's female-option-equipped D500 has that 2nd-version/edition of the 1957 D500 emblem----not that
many people would notice that rare feature, but, that 500-emblem has the same slightly-different-shape as does
the later-produced 1957 D501 emblem which was also, apparently, cast by this same subcontractor.

That's the car that sold for $195Large (plus commission?) at the 57 Heaven auction, this past fall.

It was advertised as being a dual 4-bbl "Super D500" model, but, it was built as a Single-4 model.

The 57 Heaven's curator couldn't get the correct upholstery for the car, so he had it he outfitted in the 2-dr/4-dr
hardtop material, and the seat vinyl wasn't correct, either, but hey! whaddaya want, for around $200K ?

No idea who bought the car, or in which collection it may presently be residing, but for that much dinero, it sure ain't
gonna get to be driven very much.

Hard to see that D500 badge, but the original photo is mine and I gave Neil a copy. It shows a lot of details.

So, here's that badge for all to see. And the license plate, in case this car would surface somewhere...

I believe this may be a photo of cars leaving County Stadium in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, after an event. Before the Stadium Freeway (now Miller Parkway) was built, this road, and Storey parkway, to the west, were converted to one way traffic to accommodate stadium traffic.

The railroad to the right appears to be the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific mainline. The wooden street lighting poles and circuits were not replaced with steel poles and underground wires until the 1970s. The freeway was built between this road and Storey Parkway, north of I-94.

But I could be wrong about the location...though the similarities are amazing.

K.

Doctor DeSoto - 2011-03-08 9:37 PM Do the 58 Olds have the gas filler under the hood ???

Maybe he was gong to prime the carburetor, a not unknown procedure when you ran out of gas. I question though whether that would have been that easy to do using a G.I. 5 gal jerry can.

55 Savoy - 2011-03-08 9:30 PM Bass Lake 1959

Wow, Anders! That's the one that got it all started for me. I remember it being listed on eBay years ago, very well. I've been looking for it ever since but never saw it again, until now.
That's a '59 Adventurer, right? And two '58 Dodge patrol cars, having a nice break at the lake.

Thanks, very nice!

These are some terrific photos!

Here are some parking lot pictures, the third labelled Quebec, the last labelled New Albany.
